The court is located on the playing field opposite Church and Community Hall in Hintlesham and has a lighting facility with use limited until 22:00 to respect our local residents. The facility will not be locked, however if abuse of the facility is found then the court may move to have restricted access.

The court is reserved after school for children to use (15:00-17:00, Mon-Fri in term time). Bookings are to be made in 1 hour slots, starting on the hour, for example 11:00-12:00. The maximum number of back to back bookings is two which would give two hours play, for example 13:00-15:00. Advance bookings can only be made up to 6 weeks in advance if there is a requirement beyond this please contact the Admin team. Initially the court is only for use by members of our community with their friends, family and guests. In the future we may open to those outside our community at an additional charge.

Any of our community involved in teams or clubs which wish to use the facility with their club are welcome, they just need to ensure they are a MUGA Club member and that they play in the games. Therefore at least one person playing would be a member of the MUGA Club and therefore also part of our community. There will be a fee of £20 per hour for these games to help fund the annual management and maintenance of the facility. To arrange this and longer terms bookings please message the Admin team via the Booking System.

05/12/19 // MUGA Court - Fees Update & New Improvements

Good morning MUGA Club member! We hope you have been enjoying using the MUGA court over the last 18 months since opening or at least enjoyed seeing our community, young and older, out and getting active on this fantastic facility. In our first year the MUGA Committee secured enough funding to cover the annual overhead costs for the MUGA, enabling general membership and use of the court to be at no charge to those in our community. In our second year the MUGA Club committee have been working hard to leverage the rental potential of the multi-use games area for team sports. We marketed the MUGA facility to many local sports clubs and we currently have 8 teams regularly hiring the court paying £25 per hour. The goal of this push was to raise funds to cover the annual maintenance costs by team hire fees rather than ask MUGA Club general member to pay an annual usage fees. The MUGA Club committee are deleighted to announce that via this drive the MUGA Club are able to cover most of the annual maintenance costs. However we would welcome any donations, however big or small, to help cover the remainder plus allow us to make improvements to the facility. If you are able to help please just contact us via the MUGA website or email [email protected] and we can provide you with the MUGA bank detail or arrange to collect any generous donations. Here are just some of the improvements coming soon: • A large tarmac area to each side of the entrance pathway to tidy the area, give a clean space to leave kit whilst playing and help reduce the amount of mud carried onto the court • We will be installing a twin bin with a recycling section • Two benches made from recycled materials will provide seating for those watching or waiting to play • Floor mounted boot cleaning brushes will be installed to aid the remove of mud before entering the court • A bike rack will be installed at the playing field hut where a PIR sensor light has already been installed to aid use • Moss prevention treatment to ensure the long life of our astro-turf surface • Mechanically brushing the court surface and applying a fresh layer of sand As members if you have any ideas of how to improve the facility please do contact us. Many thanks Your MUGA Committee

11/11/19 // MUGA Court Parking

A quick request, please could users/teams park in the small car park just past the MUGA by the small hut on the sports field. It is on the same side of the road as the MUGA. If that is full then please use the Community Hall's car park opposite the MUGA, rather than parking on the road. It is just a request to all users of the court as there have been a couple of challenges for emergency vehicle's access with cars parked on the road by the MUGA. We would appreciate it if you could please pass this on to all players joining you. Many thanks for your understanding. The MUGA Club team

24/07/19 // Setting Up Tennis Net - Key Tips

Do not forget our MUGA pitch is designed for tennis use and has a net locked in the box next to the gate. Confirmation of the key safe code is given on booking the court. It is easy to put up but please see these pics ,on the link below to help putting the posts up as we had a couple of mistakes with the cable being wound into the net. (The news post also has the video on how to install too.) Many thanks all and keep using our fantastic facility. The MUGA Team. http://hintleshamandchattisham.co.uk/2019/07/24/muga-tennis-net-tips/

23/01/19 // Tennis Net Set Up Video

Here is a step by step instruction video on how to set up the MUGA Tennis Net. Remember you get the code for the key safe when you book the court online. Hope it helps. (The court is designed to drain fast, so tennis is possible throughout the year.) https://youtu.be/H5nFB_TE8h4

A quick request, please could users/teams park in the small car park just past the MUGA by the small hut on the sports field. It is on the same side of the road as the MUGA. If that is full then please use the Community Hall's car park opposite the MUGA, rather than parking on the road. 05/12/18 // Hintlesham and Chattisham MUGA Club AGM

The AGM is scheduled for Wednesday, 6th of February, 2019 7:30 PM at the Community Hall. The main topic for discussion will be financing of the MUGA and setting membership fees. There will also be elections for the various roles on the committee. The current MUGA committee members will be also holding a meeting on Tuesday 8th January 7:30PM at the George Inn, Hintlesham. It would be great to see a good turn-out of people before the AGM so we can bring everyone up to date on our activities to date, gain input and ideas to create a plan for 2019, and gauge interest for new committee members.

19/11/18 // Mud on MUGA

The MUGA court is getting lots of use in these winter months including several football teams. Please can we ask everyone to ensure all users on the MUGA court have clean shoes on when going onto the court. We have had issues with mud getting on to the court from footwear and needs to be reduced to ensure the best life of the court. Please remember to change shoes if warming up before outside of the court or from crossing the grass playing field due to the mud on the grass this time of year. We have sent this to the teams hiring the court too but if we, young and old, ensure we have clean shoes it will be of great help. We would hate to have to restrict access due to this. Many thanks all for you understanding. The MUGA Team

29/10/18 // Football Teams Use

Just to update everyone that we have three clubs so far who have booked the MUGA for midweek evening training sessions through the winter months. Their £25/hr fee goes towards the annual maintenance and operational costs for the MUGA facility. If you know of any other teams in the local area that maybe interested in hiring the MUGA court please do contact Andrew Bryce via [email protected] These bookings go a big way to helping to cover our costs and any keep any future membership costs to a minimum for our community's general use.

23/10/18 // Updates from the MUGA Team

Good afternoon all. The MUGA has been well used since opening including weekly hockey games, tennis lessons, after school football games and even our carpet bowls team have been taking advantage of the facility. We are so pleased to have seen such varied and active use. However there are still plenty of time slots remaining for the court to be used so do go online and book it for some fun. If you are, or were, a netball player we have heard several people are interesting in starting a fun game once a week so do get in touch if you are interested and we can try and put you all in touch with one another. We had a MUGA Team meeting last week, to keep everyone updated here is some output: - The court is reserved after school just for school children to use, both senior and junior school children. We just ask that all ages of children are considerate of each other share the facility and ensue all are having fun! - There will be an AGM on the 6th February for all members of the MUGA Club to come along and help shape the future of the club and the use of the facility plus appoint some "officials" to manage the facility moving forwards. More details to follow nearer the time. - The area each side of the entrance will be covered in artificial grass to help keep mud out during the winter months. Around this time a pair of benches will be installed as well as a bin including a recycling section. - We are inviting external local clubs to use the facility in the winter months (eg for evening football training) at a fee of £25 per hour. If you know any teams that maybe interested please do contact us. These fees will help to cover the annual maintenance costs for the facility. - The autumn maintenance will be starting soon which includes leaf clearance and moss control. It is very important that we do not allow mud onto the court so please ensure you change shoes if you are arriving with muddy shoes. - Please can we ask users to close the gate after use to stop animals/pets getting onto the court. - A You Tube video will be coming soon once we get it edited to show how to use the tennis nets including installing and removing the posts from the court. - The court is also a great way of entertaining children for a birthday party and you can perhaps combine with hiring the sports field hut for food afterwards and toilets. We will update you of any other news as we have it. All the best and enjoy your sports!

Put the code in and pull down on the lift button to the left of the combination dials and it will open. Please ensure the nets and posts are stored away after use, locked up and the key secure back in the key safe with the combination "hidden" again once locked. 12/07/18 // Sand on the MUGA Pitch

There is a lot of sand on the surface of the court at the beginning which will impact the quality of play on the court. The reason for this is that we have not had any rain since construction. Rain is required to wash the sand down into the pile of the carpet. This will just take some time to get washed in but it is very important the excess sand is not swept off. It will take a couple of months to get to fully playable status as it needs rain and use of the court to help bed it into the surface. We will be "raking" the court to spread/distribute the sand around the court once a week for first couple of months to help keep the sand evenly spread.

12/07/18 // Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be a member to use the MUGA pitch? Yes only members who are registered on our Booking Website may use the facility. This ensures everyone using the facility has recognised our Terms of Use and also enables them to book the court for use. As a member can I just turn up and use the MUGA pitch? We ask that you book the MUGA pitch via the Booking Website to secure the booking time. What are the times we can book the pitch for? It is available from 07:00-22:00 except for school term time where the court is reserved after school for children to use from 15:00-17:00. How do the lights work? The LED lighting can be turned on via the grey box just inside the court. These lights are set up so they come on once the external sensor recognises it is dark enough. This feature is designed to save energy. The lights will not operate after 22:00. Please ensure you turn the lights off after you have finished. I play/train on a Thursday evening in a football team in Ipswich, can we hire this pitch? Any of our community involved in teams or clubs which wish to use the facility with their club are welcome, they just need to ensure they are a MUGA Club member and that they play in the game. Therefore at least one person playing would be a member of the MUGA Club and also part of our community. There will be a fee of £20 per hour for these games to help fund the annual management and maintenance of the facility due to the greater wear and tear from these type of use. To arrange this please message the Admin team via the Booking System. Longer term block bookings an also be arranged. (In the future this may get expanded to clubs/teams outside our community.) Can my child use the court after school? We have blocked the court for after school use in term time (15:00-17:00) for school children to play on. We just ask that you, as the parent or guardian, register as a members of the MUGA Club to ensure you are aware of the Terms of Use and can make your child aware of them too. Please do feel free to get together with other parents and perhaps organise a coaching session, or fun games during these times. If I wished to, how do I make a donation towards the running cost, whilst there is no membership fee? Please just message the Admin team via the Booking Website and we can send you further details from there. We really do appreciate any donations to help with the running of facility including the annual maintenance costs such as moss control, contractors cleaning the surface, etc. If we identify a problem, fault or issues with the court, fencing or facilities who to contact? Please drop a line to the Admin Team via the Booking System and we will investigate as soon as we can. It is our community’s facility and it is in all our interest to look after it so please do share anything you notice. Thank you. If it is urgent please call the Emergency Contact number on the court or on the website. If we have noticed abuse of the court or do not feel those using it are adhering to our Terms of Use what should I do? If you feel happy to, please have a quiet word with them or otherwise notify the Admin Team via the Booking System. Please supply as much detail as possible including the nature of the incident and the time of the event. If it is urgent please call the Emergency Contact number on the court or on the website. Where are the Tennis Nets/Posts stored? The tennis nets and posts will be stored in a secure box outside of the court to ensure maximum playable space on the court. The code for the box will be sent out within a court Booking Confirmation. Please ensure you follow the instructions for installing the net and posts which will be within the box. In time, we hope to have an online video demo too. After your game please ensure you return them and lock them securely away again. If the people playing after you wish to use the nets it is your responsibility to ensure they put them away and understand how to do it. Nets and posts are not cheap to replace so we need to ensure ours are looked after well and kept secure. There is lots of sand on the court, will it always be like that? There is a lot of sand on the surface of the court at the beginning which will impact the quality of play on the court. The reason for this is that we have not had any rain since construction. Rain is required to wash the sand down into the pile of the carpet. This will just take some time to get washed in but it is very important the excess sand is not swept off. It will take a couple of months to get to fully playable status as it needs rain and use of the court to help bed it into the surface. We will be "raking" the court to spread/distribute the sand around the court once a week for first couple of months to help keep the sand evenly spread.
